Q: Are there any men out there that have a penile implant?
I am 59 years old and have lost the ability to obtain or maintain an erection. I have tried all 3 of the Viagra type meds and can't take them due to bad side effects. I have also tried CaverJect injections. They work really well but I don't like giving myself shots in my penis. It also takes away from the sponanity of having sex anytime you want to and you are limited to only 3 injections a week. My urologist is advising me to get the MENTOR inflatable implant but I want to talk to someone who has one or one similar to it and get their feedback. Women may also reply if their husband or someone they know has one. Does it feel and look as good as the real thing? Are the ladies as easily satisfied with the implant as before? Are there any changes in size? Anyone who replys may also IM me as I may have additional questions. Thanks!

Q: Experience with Caverject?
He knows you can Google it. He knows the instructions. He wants to know if anyone wants to share opinion about effectiveness. Need to know before trying...expensive. Serious mature answers only please.
Thank you perkins...he needs personal experience comments...please people do not say try other ED drugs first...Dr. prescribed because those did not help much.
A: Caverject is about 98% effective and is about as expensive as the oral meds. I personally think it works better than any of the orals.
I was the director of a National Men's Health Clinic. I can tell you all about it. IT WORKS! It has LESS side effects than Viagra or any of the others.

Q: Erectile Dysfunction?
I suffered Erectile Dysfuntion after Prostate Surgery and am using Alprostadil ( Caverject ) however,is very uncomfortable and restrictive.I understand corrective surgery is available (or at least surgery as an alternative to Caverject) has anyone had this surgery or other treatment.
A: I have not had this problem but I know that there are several other options that you sould try. One is a suppository type medication that you slip into your penis. Another is a pump (Erect-Aid) that gives you an erection and you use a elastic band to keep it erect. They can also give you a penile implant if all else fails.
Good luck and go to a middle-aged urologist to get the best advice.

Q: Erectile dysfunction and hormones?
Hello,I am 22 and i experience erectile dysfunction,a urologist checked me and it turns out i have low shgb (8 range 10-50) and low TSH ( 0,86 range 0,5-5) ,i also have an enlarged prostate and had gynecomastia which i surgicaly removed....Do you think that those things are related? The urologist said that the prostate is not related but i read the opposite. Also i went through a Doppler test and had no erection after the shot (caverject). It showed low PSV but i will repeat it.I am waiting for your responses, thank you in advance...
A: BPH is a condition in which the prostate swells up which creates problem in the flow of semen, urine and stools, and can even lead to ''impotence'' or ''Erectile Dysfunction''. as you said you had removed it by surgery so you may have ED cause of following.
Studies suggest that impotence and erectile dysfunction have a considerable psychological and social effect.
Because nerves, muscles, and other tissues are involved in the maintenance of an erection, disruption of any of these things and their associated functions can contribute to ED. The most common cause of ED in senior citizens results from damage to nerves and tissue as a result from aging and disease. Diabetes, kidney disease, alcoholism, multiple sclerosis, heart disease, and vascular disease account for a majority of ED cases.
Most psychological treatment of underlying causes of ED focus on the reduction of anxiety induced from sexual experiences which can lead to dysfunction. Therapy can involve the man diagnosed, a sexual partner, and a mental health professional. Drug Therapy:
Phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors, better known as Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis, are oral drugs taken before sexual activity that help relax muscles in the penis that allow blood flow to induce an erection. Doses of all of these drugs may vary depending on the patient's current regimen of medication or sensitivity to the drug. Elder men who take medication for ED should not take these types of inhibitors more than once a day, and they should not take it at all in conjunction with other medications like nitrate-based medicine for heart disease or alpha blockers. This combination can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure.
Men who suffer from ED also employ hormone therapy by taking oral testosterone or other psychotropic medications, but the effectiveness is not completely validated leading some professionals to speculate any effectiveness from these remedies are due to a placebo effect.
Some men inject drugs directly into the penis which work by widening blood vessels, but they can also lead to persistent erection (priapism) and scarring. Some men rub nitroglycerin directly on the penis, which can sometimes enhance erection.
There is another method which involves inserting a pellet into the penis which induces an erection within 10 minutes. This can cause aching in the penis, testicles, and area between the penis and rectum. It can also cause a burning sensation in the urethra where it is inserted, redness, bleeding, and spotting.
