Q: Can Crestor, Niaspan or Micardis cause problems in my sperm that could lead to birth defects?
My wife and I want to start trying to get pregnant but we don't know if I should go off my prescription meds for a while before starting. And if I do go off of them, what would be a safe amount of time? I'm currently taking Crestor, Niaspan and Micardis.
A: Whoa. Before going off any of those meds you need to speak with your DR. I am assuming you are taking them for hypertension and cholesterol? If you stop these meds you are putting your own health at risk having uncontrolled hypertension.
I would really sit and have a meeting with your DR and discuss your concerns, and see if its safe for you to stop these meds.
You seem pretty smart that you are already thinking of the adverse effects that your meds could have. I'm sure your wife appreciates that...however Im sure she also wants a healthy hubby! Good luck and I hope you can find a solution with your DR.
Q: Has anyone else had trembling nerve twinges weakness from Crestor?
Have experienced these after Crestor dose increased to 10 mgm. Became depressed, forgetful, difficulty communicating. Always hungry for sugars, starches, never satisfied. My left arm and leg felt like rubber and no energy.
A: Rosuvastatin,(Crestor) has been around for quite a few years now, however I am not convinced its use is justified. Several studies suggest it has more side effects than the other well established statins and it still lacks long term survival data. My preference is for atorvastatin, which in a number of studies comes out more effective and lower in side effects than simvastatin, the bog standard drug.
Q: Is it safe to take megestrol acetate while taking crestor and lisinopril?
my grandfather is taking all of these, since he has cancer and other problems....please answer this ASAP. thank you =)
A: yeah, it is okay and it is not that fatal...just make sure he doesn't take it all at once, then that's bad
Q: Can taking both Crestor and Lexapro cause memory loss, forgetfulness, or brief confusion?
Both dosages are only 10mg, one time, daily.
one is for cholesterol, one is an anti depressant.
A: Have a read of Lexapro drug information sheet(s), and you will see various terms covering your symptoms... "Frequent: appetite increased, lethargy, irritability, concentration impaired. Infrequent: jitteriness, panic reaction, agitation, apathy, forgetfulness, depression aggravated, nervousness, restlessness aggravated, suicide attempt, amnesia, anxiety attack, bruxism, carbohydrate craving, confusion, depersonalization, disorientation, emotional lability, feeling unreal, tremulousness nervous, crying abnormal, depression, excitability, auditory hallucination, suicidal tendency."
Information on the dose may be found on p.2 of the linked Lexapro document.
Crestor sheet also linked, for your info. Any google search on 'statins' and 'confusion' may bring up helpful information.
If you lipid levels rose after the prescription of an antidepressant - then also note the Lexapro's possible side-effect of hypercholesterolemia.
Q: Has anyone else had back or joint pain with Crestor?
I hurt my back when I was young skiing, and it has given me problems maybe twice a year or so since then. I recently starting taking Crestor (very low dose), and I feel like I have constant back pain now. Has anyone else experienced something like this?
A: You need to talk with your doctor. With crestor, you can get joint pain, weakness, dizzyness and fainting, all of which can indicate a bad reaction. please, talk to your doctor, the medication might not be the right one for you. I lost my father a few years back at the age of 48 because of these medications and their side effects.

Q: Can these be side effects from crestor?
Well my dad has been taking crestor for over a week. He doesn't really take them everyday. But for the last 3 days he has been getting very dizzy and the feeling that he wants to throw up. I am very scared. His Pulse is around 55.What should he do?
A: Call his doctor.
1) the symptoms aren't the most common for Crestor.
2) He should take all his meds regularly.
Q: Do Alprazolam, Crestor and Aspirin interact with each other?
I am taking alprazolam 0.25 twice a day, Crestor 20mg once a day.
I want to take baby aspirin because I am having chest pains. I don't know if it is safe to.
The baby aspirin is about 81 mg I think (correct me If I am wrong)
Is it safe to do this?
I am only 18 years old and I have had like 5 EKG's because I suffer from constant lightheadedness and doctors thgouth It was my heart but nothing showed up except the last time I had an arrythmia but they said it was proabably do to stress since I do suffer from an anxiety disorder.

Drug information at above links.
I do not see any drug interactions listed here.
For chest pains it is not a bad idea to see a doctor, but a baby asprin (81mg) might not be a bad thing to do in the mean time.
A couple of things to keep in mind about Crestor besides the muscle pain accompained by fever/ill feelings (sign of rhabdomyolysis).
Alcohol increases liver toxicity, and likely Tylenol does as well, so I would avoid or severely limit each. Asians need much lower doses as they cannot clear the drug easily. Kidney toxicity is possible, the urine should be tested for protein and blood cells often. Of course, blood tests for liver injury should be done often as well.
Lipitor might be a safer choice of statin than crestor.
Q: I am on vistaril zoloft dilantin crestor and benadryl and I tested positive for bezodiazepine at work Why?
This Has Gotten Me In Trouble at work from a urine drug test Please Help
A: Its the vistaril. NOT the dilantin as one person said. You should be able to clear up your problems by letting the testing lab doc verify with your physician that it is a legit rx. Unless of course you were in an accident while driving or operating heavy machinery or such. If thats the case, may be a sticky situation.
Q: I've been taking Crestor (Cholesterol lowering pills) for a couple weeks. My eyelids swell up in the morning?
Could this be a sideffect from taking Crestor?
A: That is a new one, even for me. I believe that statins cause eye and ear problems, but never heard of that one. Did you know that statins can effect your memory and your personality?
Do you know that statins kill as many patients as they help. Yep, for every heart attack they prevent, a person will die of cancer or other infection due to the immuno suppressive effect.
I could go on for days but I will sign off as usual,
Pharmacist who's life was almost ruined by Lipitor
Q: Is Crestor really better than Vytorin?
I have high cholesterol and have been taking Vytorin, is it true that Crestor wil lower my LDL?
A: both of them should lower your LDL significantly. vytorin is a combo of 2 drugs in one pill, zocor and zetia. zocor and crestor are similar drugs, but crestor is more potent. the zetia helps to stop you from absorbing as much cholesterol from the food you eat. crestor is better than zocor alone, but vytorin is about as good or better than crestor at lowering LDL, you could talk it over with your doc or pharmacist though about it if you want to try something else
Q: i have heard that crestor chlosterol medicine can cause kidey damage is that true? my doctor put me on that?
and i have nephrotic syndrome which is where i spill protein in my urine. also is there anyway that i can help my kidneys from doing that?
A: No it doesn't. As for nephrotic syndrome, you should likely be on an ACE inhibitor such as lisinopril or an ARB such as cozaar.
Ignore the answer from "American Vet".
The recent news was about Zetia & Vytorin, it mentioned nothing about Crestor. In fact, it it said NOTHING about statins.
It DID imply that Zetia didn't provide any benefit in terms of morbidity & mortality.
Given the # of statin prescriptions, if they were "killers" as claimed, then people would be dropping left & right.
I've been on high dose statins & niacin for 7 years. No side effects, absolutely no change in my liver function tests.
Q: What side effects does the crestor medication countain?
A: Body aches & pains
Muscle weakness
Cough
Congestion
Trouble with swallowing
Headaches
Voice changes
Runny nose
Dry or sore throat
