Q: Testin supplies isn't cheap is it really all that important to check after meal sugar levels?
Im on Lantus and novolog and pretty tight controlled but I only check before meals I'm rarely ever over 100. But the dietitian did say to check post meals as well....?
A: I don't really understand how someone would even know if they are doing ok with their sugars if they haven't checked their sugars after meals? That doesn't make sense. After meals is what effects your blood sugar, whether you're at 85 or 120... and also what you eat makes a huge difference too. If you eat pizza, check, if you eat chicken with veggies, don't worry about it (that actually makes sense). But since you are on both a baseline AND mealtime insulin it is probably good to pay attention to your sugars after meals. I hear you about them costing beaucoup bucks, it's not easy :/ Maybe just check after eating naughty carb-y things though.
Q: What are the prices in Canadian dollars of the insulins Levemir and Lantus, in the 15ml (cartridge) format?
These are the ones used in pens. Lantus in 10ml vials used to be the cheapest but since they now have the cartridge I was wondering if it is at the vial price, or the Levemir price?

Q: where can I get prescription diabetes drugs cheap without prescription??
Hi everyone I am looking for a prescription only medication for diabetes called Lantus. I am wanting an aussie script for it. My cat has feline diabetes and if I buy a vial from my vet it costs me over $200.00 dollars. I am wanting to know if there is anyway I can get my hands on a vial for less??? Does anyone know a dodgy doctor on the mornington peninsula that would right a script or are there any web sites that you can buy medications through . I know this sounds dodgy but I want to try anything for my cat but money is an issue. Any help would be appreciated thanks
A: Hey, the stuff ain't cheap. My long lasting costs me $200.00 also. You may be able to find a druggist that will give it to you without a prescription, but they charge even more. At least that has been my experience. You either get the stuff without a script and pay more, or go to the vet, get a script, and still pay a lot.
Q: Insulin emergency?
I've posted this before with very little help..please someone.
My BF is a type 1 diabetic and takes Lantus and Humolog. He got laid of from work and lost income and insurance, i just got a new job and am basically broke paying the bills.
We cannot afford his insulin which is dangerously low. He will run out within the week.
What can we do? I heard somewhere about a program that helps people get their meds for cheaper when they are poor/on hard times/without insurance.
Any suggestions?
We live in tx btw
A: You can try contacting Texas Medicaid. I'm not sure if they offer any kind of prescription coverage, but it's worth a try. Also try needymeds.com. It is a prescription program for patients who have no prescription insurance and limited funds.

Please Help Save My Cat!!!
Yesterday, the 16th, my 8-year-old cat, Dana, was diagnosed with Diabetes.
He was prescribed Glargine [Lantus Insulin] and needs 3 units of it every 12 hours.
Oh, and of course, it gets even better *sarcasm*. Turns out, the insulin costs $110 per month’s supply. We cannot afford this. If we don’t find out how to get cheaper insulin, we will have to put him to sleep.
If we get the insulin, though, he could go into remission. That means that his Diabetes will be cured. For the time being, at least. The vet says that if he goes into remission, the Diabetes won’t come back for about 4-5 years.
Please, please help me. He’s my baby, and I would be heart-broken if we had to put him to sleep.
All I need you to do is help me find cheaper insulin. I need a massive Google-Search team. Everyone, please, if you could look through all the webpages you can, and find out where they sell a lower-cost insulin, I would be eternally grateful.
Thank-you so much.
Thank-you, Simple, but I looked there and they don't have Glargine, the prescribed insulin.
Thank-you, though.
A: try.
this is the best advice i can offer you
ask the vet who prescribed the medication ~would it be possible to help him/her out for a period of time each week and get your cat 's insulin free or at least at an affordable price.
these are some sites that may help!!

@Kelci H: My goodness, thank-you! And I just heard from somebody else that if you refrigerate it, the insulin can last for up to a few months.
Thank-you so much. I don't know what I would do if I had to put him to sleep. Thank-you again.
A: there is an insulin we sell called vetsulin, we sell a bottle for 41 dollars, it lasts most people a month or more. we always see good turn outs with it, i'm very happy with it. we have syringes for 100 for 30 dollars. research vetsulin blue box little cat and dog on the bottle. there's also a royal canin diet for diabetic cats that helps! i hope that helps.

A: are you able to get alternate ways of paying for the medication??
have u tried borrowing money, using credit card? every single vet also has a interest free pay system where u sign a contract with the vet and u only pay a certain amount of money every fortnight or every month and u only pay what u can afford. it is also interest fee so if it totals $2000 and it takes u 2 yrs to pay it off. 2 yrs later its still $2000 in total because of no interest.
every vet offers this. the only thing is u have to be real in what u can afford. example. if u guys can only afford to pay $10 per week.. u write that in the contract because if u fall behind in payments they send debt collectors so make sure u do not over guess what u can afford
**my dog got ran over by a car a yr ago** i was unable to afford it and it came to a total of $3000 for 1 WEEKS worth of care and surgery by the vet. FORGET ABOUT YOUR $110 PER MONTH. LOL MINE WAS $3000 FOR A WEEK! i was unable to pay for $3000 in 1 go. i did a payment plan and i paid about $100 per fortnight as thats what i could afford to the vet.
my dog is now all better and i do not regret doing it. it was either save my dog or let her die and i do not ever regret chosing a payment plan for $3000 to save my dog. she is now very healthy and happpy. :)
i have since gotten a good paying job and ended up paying the rest of the money ASAP and have paid all of it more quicker.
MOST VETS IF NOT EVERY VET HAS THIS. THEY JUST DO NOT ADVERTISE THAT THEY OFFER/HAVE THIS SERVICE AS IF PPL KNOW ABOUT IT THEY MOST LIKELY WOULD ABUSE THE SYSTEM AND GET FREE TREATMENT AND NOT PAY. LOL THATS IS WHY THEY DO NOT ADVERTISE THIS HOWEVER IF U ASK YOUR VET FOR A PAYMENT SYSTEM, THEY WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO GIVE IT TO U AND LET U USE IT BUT U WOULD HAVE TO ASK THEM IF THEY OFFER IT. THEY WOULD NOT ADVERTISE IT AS THEY OFTEN LOOSE MONEY. sorry for the caps.
